The Flower Shop Where Everybody Knows Your Name

3 mins read

Sandy’s been in this spot on Broadway for 16 years. She knows half the neighborhood by their flower preferences. When Mrs. Chen calls to reorder her weekly peachy roses, Sandy already has them set aside. When Tom comes in with no idea what to bring his girlfriend, Sandy asks three questions and solves it.

That’s the whole idea. We’re a flower shop that actually feels like a flower shop—not a website pretending to be one.

Our Story

Sandy Kowalski opened this shop in 2010 after fifteen years working for a corporate florist chain. She wanted to build something intimate—a place where people felt comfortable walking in without an occasion, where mistakes got fixed immediately, where someone picked up the phone.

Signature Collections

  • The Weekday Rose—a slim vase arrangement, 15–18 stems, meant for people who just want beauty on their table without the commitment. Rotates seasonally.
  • Garden Abundance—our most-requested wedding arrangement. Full, romantic, built with premium roses, stock, hypericum, and generous greenery. No two look exactly the same.
  • The Apology—because sometimes people walk in needing forgiveness in flower form. Bright, optimistic, hard to be mad at. Sunflowers, orange roses, yellow hypericum.
  • Quiet Sympathy—white, cream, soft purple, and green. Built for funerals, hospital visits, and moments when words fail.

Why Local Matters

When you order from Sandy’s, your money stays in the neighborhood. We’re not a franchise. We don’t split proceeds with a national company. We’re three people working with growers we’ve known for years.

“We get to know our customers’ tastes,” Sandy says. “A woman came in last month ordering flowers for her daughter’s college dorm. She’d been buying from us for eight years. That relationship matters. It means we care about getting it right.”

Our delivery area covers most of the east side and downtown. Same-day delivery available on orders before 3 PM for $12.

Delivery Coverage

We deliver to: downtown, Pearl District, Southeast Portland (SE 82nd to SE 12th), and Northeast Portland. Our drivers know the shortcuts and promise on-time delivery. If a bouquet arrives damaged—which rarely happens—we remake it immediately.

What People Say

“Sandy actually called me the day after my delivery to make sure the flowers made it through the move. That’s not normal.” — Lisa G.

“I wanted white roses for my wedding but was worried about them being boring. Sandy layered in hypericum and white stock, and they were perfect. She understood the vision better than I did.” — Emily H.

“My mom is obsessed with pink peonies. I order them every spring, and Sandy always remembers. It feels personal.” — David K.
